Aakenbaaken & Kent Announces the Upcoming Release of Slow Burn by Michael Norman

Slow Burn will be available nationwide in the summer of 2018

Valdosta, GA – Aakenbaaken & Kent announces the upcoming release of Slow Burn by Utah mystery writer Michael Norman.

After policing for seven years and teaching criminal justice for 25, Michael Norman decided to switch from academic writing and try his hand at writing mysteries.

His debut novel, The Commission, which Kirkus described as “a refreshing throwback to the lean, straight ahead police procedurals of the Dragnet era,” received a starred review and was chosen as one of Publisher’s Weekly Best 100 Books of 2007. Since then, Norman has written four additional mysteries, including his latest, Slow Burn, which is slated for national release this summer. His first four novels were published by the Poisoned Pen Press.

This highly anticipated third book in the Sam Kincaid series begins in Salt Lake City with the kidnapping of a college student. But this is no ordinary kidnapping. This kidnapping will receive special attention because the victim is Samantha Cates, the daughter of politically powerful Benjamin Cates, the Executive Director of the Utah Department of Corrections, and Sam Kincaid’s boss. Out of favor and recently demoted by Cates, Kincaid is riding a desk in the department’s training division awaiting retirement.

Believing that his daughter’s kidnapping might be the work of a vengeful offender, Cates asks Kincaid to return to the Special Investigations Branch (SIB) on temporary assignment to help find his daughter. Teaming with Salt Lake Police Department Detective Lieutenant Kate McConnell, the two launch a desperate search to find the missing girl. Soon Kincaid discovers two recent murders that appear to be connected—one in Las Vegas, the other in Seattle.

With time running out, Kincaid and McConnell are forced to pull out all the stops as they learn the kidnapper(s) are about to place the victim in a coffin and bury her alive.

A native of Seattle, Michael Norman lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with his wife, Diane, and their pit bull, Annie. Michael is the author of The Commission, Silent Witness, On Deadly Ground, and Skeleton Picnic. Visit Michael online at: www.michaelnormanauthor.com
